Storm Damage Falling Trees and Storm Damage Trees falling on your home can cause water damage and debris. Let us help get you back in your home faster than anyone else in the business.

Late summer is upon us, which means possible serious storms in the North East

A common occurrence during large storms is trees falling on and damaging your property. Don’t wait until it happens. Be prepared for this type of storm emergency. Here are 5 steps to take to prevent the issues of falling trees in the White Plains and New Rochelle area.

  1. Trees that are old or diseased can easily succumb to flooding and windy storms. Go ahead and remove hazardous trees before a storm approaches.
  2. In the event a tree does fall on your property, first, make sure everyone is okay. Leave your home if you feel unsafe inside the property.
  3.  Look to see if there are any wires or power lines hanging and if they are, call the police and the power company.
  4.  Call your insurance company and if you can safely do so, take pictures.
  5. Contact us at SERVPRO of White Plains/ New Rochelle. We will place a tarp on the roof if needed. We will also carry out any board up services required and clean up any water inside the home. Boarding up parts of the home that have structural damage will help with your insurance claim and also deter any vandals while you are away from your home.

*TIP: The nature of emergency situations, often do not allow you to check licenses or BBB reports. It’s best to have a trusted restoration and storm cleanup company in mind before things like this happen. Contact SERVPRO of White Plains and New Rochelle to receive a free Emergency Readiness Plan. This plan will organize all the necessary steps and information you will need in the event of storm damage, water damage, fire damage, and cleanup.

A Letter from a Happy Client

7/25/2016 (Permalink)

Community A Letter from a Happy Client Thanks to Natalie for this wonderful letter. We are glad she had such a great experience.

This is a letter of recommendation for SERVPRO of White Plains & New Rochelle, who we employed to mitigate mold  at our Townhouse located in Pelham, NY.

In the past, I had owned several properties and have dealt with multiple contractors which in fact did bring me a lot of grief. Lack of timely completion, lack of control over subcontractors and a lack of general all around ownership of the job was something I had come to expect as the norm.

In December 2015, we had a major flood in our Townhouse from a broken pipe in a bathroom located on a third floor. It took us over 6 months to negotiate overall damage price with the Insurance provider due to damage quote estimate difference, among other difficulties.

After many months of detailed research, we were lucky to find  ServePro of White Plains & New Rochelle who did a great deal to change our views when it comes to working with a Mitigation company.

Antoinette from ServePro worked diligently to remove the multiple loose ends and questions that caused confusion, cost overruns and delays with the Insurance provider. She is extremely knowledgeable, very professional, has excellent communication skills and keeps everyone informed of all aspects of the project.

The SERVPRO Team utilized excellent project management skills to problem solve any issue that arose during the project. They were very detail oriented, focused on keeping the project on schedule and on budget. I find them to be very honest and straightforward on all issues.  They are efficient, work hard to keep the project in-line and are excellent in communication. This was a great experience for us to work with such a professional group of contractors!

I would highly recommend Serve Pro of White Plains & New Rochelle to anyone who wishes to undergo a mitigation project with as little anguish as possible.

Do you use a Contractor or SERVPRO?

Water Damage Do you use a Contractor or SERVPRO? Make sure you save money and time by calling us in the event of water damage!

Imagine you come home one evening and you walk into your living room covered with water and your ceiling has collapsed.

What do you do?

Who do you call?

Do you call your contractor or a Water Restoration Company?

What is the difference?

There are many differences between contractors and Water Restoration Companies. Here are a few:

  • A contractor’s job is to replace everything that is affected. This will include all flooring, walls, cabinets and even furniture. SERVPRO is certified in drying water damage to industry standards. We will not remove materials unless it is necessary. This prevents further interruption to your daily life.
  • A contractor will have to replace all of the materials they took out of your home. This can take weeks waiting for material decisions, insurance approval, shipping, and installation time. SERVPRO’s average drying time is only 3 days. We have crews available 24/7 and someone to monitor your job daily.
  • Replacing flooring, drywall, and all of your furniture is expensive. Restoring your home is a lot less expensive than replacing everything in your home.
  • When you call SERVPRO of White Plains/ New Rochelle you can expect a First Responder on site within two hours. We will assess the situation with you and run through al of our options. We will get rid of anything that could cause more damage to your home and salvage as much as we can to save you time and money.

If you have a problem call: (914) 684-1560

We operate in Portchester, Rye, Rye Brook, Harrison, Larchmont, Mamaroneck, New Rochelle, and White Plains.

Does Your Westchester County Home Have A Mold Problem?

    6/13/2016 (Permalink)

Mold Remediation Does Your Westchester County Home Have A Mold Problem? In Westchester County, mold can spread through a home in as little as 48 hours.

If you live in Portchester, Rye, Ryebrook, Harrison, Larchmont, Mamaroneck, New Rochelle, or White Plains call us immediately if you have mold damage.

Microscopic mold spores naturally occur almost everywhere, both outdoors and indoors. This makes it impossible to remove all mold from a home or business. Therefore, mold remediation reduces the mold spore count back to its natural or baseline level. Some restoration businesses advertise “mold removal” and even guarantee to remove all mold, which is a fallacy. Consider the following mold facts:

Mold is present almost everywhere, indoors and outdoors.

Mold spores are microscopic and float along in the air and may enter your home through windows, doors, or AC/heating systems or even hitch a ride indoors on your clothing or a pet.

Mold spores thrive on moisture. Mold spores can quickly grow into colonies when exposed to water. These colonies may produce allergens and irritants.

Before mold remediation can begin, any sources of water or moisture must be addressed. Otherwise, the mold may return.

Mold often produces a strong, musty odor and can lead you to possible mold problem areas.

Even higher-than-normal indoor humidity can support mold growth. Keep indoor humidity below 45 percent.

If your home or business has a mold problem, we can inspect and assess your property and use our specialized training, equipment, and expertise to remediate your mold infestation.

If You See Signs of Mold, Call Us Today – (914) 684-1560

Westchester County Smoke and Soot Cleanup

    6/10/2016 (Permalink)

Fire Damage Westchester County Smoke and Soot Cleanup Smoke and Soot Damage Can Cause a Pervasive Odor in Your Westchester County Home.

If you live in Portchester, Rye, Ryebrook, Harrison, Larchmont, Mamaroneck, New Rochelle, or White Plains call us immediately if you have fire damage.

Smoke and soot is very invasive and can penetrate various cavities within your home, causing hidden damage and odor. Our smoke damage expertise and experience allows us to inspect and accurately assess the extent of the damage to develop a comprehensive plan of action.

    Smoke and soot facts:

Hot smoke migrates to cooler areas and upper levels of a structure.

Smoke flows around plumbing systems, seeping through the holes used by pipes to go from floor to floor.

The type of smoke may greatly affect the restoration process.

    Different Types of Smoke

There are two different types of smoke–wet and dry. As a result, there are different types of soot residue after a fire. Before restoration begins, SERVPRO of New Rochelle will test the soot to determine which type of smoke damage occurred. The cleaning procedures will then be based on the information identified during pretesting. Here is some additional information:

Wet Smoke – Plastic and Rubber

Low heat, smoldering, pungent odor, sticky, smeary. Smoke webs are more difficult to clean.

Dry Smoke – Paper and Wood

Fast burning, high temperatures, heat rises therefore smoke rises.

Protein Fire Residue – Produced by evaporation of material rather than from a fire

Virtually invisible, discolors paints and varnishes, extreme pungent odor.

    Our Fire Damage Restoration Services

Since each smoke and fire damage situation is a little different, each one requires a unique solution tailored for the specific conditions.  We have the equipment, expertise, and experience to restore your fire and smoke damage.  We will also treat your family with empathy and respect and your property with care.
